==== Robert "Bobby" Fischer won his first chess-tourney at age 14 and quickly became known as a young chess prodigy who'd grow up to become the real American 'champion' during the Cold-War chess-media intrigue against Russian-master Boris Spassky. Fischer was an interesting man who had an older-age more eccentric behavior lore tied to his name when he resurfaced from hermitage to replay Spassky his Soviet rival. ![]() Raised close to his mother Regina, Bobby noted his mother's gifts and labor-values and felt closer to her than others as he climbed the ladder of celebrity in the United States. He'd even go onto invent his own 'brand' or sub-style of chess, and his younger years was a premonition (arguably) for all this strange Western/American shine. ![]() In his post-Spassky years during the first Cold-War symbolic chess-challenge, Fischer was known to make strange comments in the press and remained true to his belief that his eccentricity was his own/unique fingerprint. His style of chess was inventive, quick-witted, swift and nearly telepathic (sensing the motion-machinery of his opponents with a shrewd psyche as his opponents would seemingly feel) in tone/quality. He was a strong consistent winner as he rose to celebrity as a young-adult. ![]() There was lots for media-IQ for Bobby Fischer as the Cold-War symbolic match against Spassky approached, but the American 'prodigy' seemed to want to maintain his level of self-idealized sense of confidence and privacy. He seemed to however have a quiet if indignant type of respect/esteem for his rival Boris as the journalists took his photo(s). ![]() His epic match with Spassky was symbolic for stalemate-IQ ramifications concerning superpowers finding competition-angst/imagination in almost any kind of international activity (USA-USSR). ![]() Today, computer scientists study and apply chess models/diagrams and arrays of symmetry/asymmetry and inventive piece-position arrangements for offense-defense and have also inspired super-computer chess programs/models (e.g., Deep-Blue, Deep-Thought) that are set against human chess-masters. ![]() I myself (personally) find Bobby Fischer's life/achievements in chess/media quite extra-ordinary and enjoy watching documentaries about the American legend (YouTube) and/or reading excerpts of writings about the great man. It gives me my own sense(s) of confidence/enthusiasm regarding what'll make my chess-play (or ideations of stalemate-chess complexity/intrigue/insight(s)!) more conducive to this new age of social-media (e.g., Facebook-chess) driven global folk networking/socialization/photography (wow). ![]() Maybe I'll get a neat baseball-figurine chess-set/board to synthesize/recreate the 'strategy-imagination' of various iconic World Series matchups (e.g., A's-Reds) symbolic/reflective of competition-stalemate thrill(s). ![]() What Bobby Fischer reminded us with his stalemate-premonition chess-triumph in the iconic matchup with Russian Spassky is that patriotism and politics are nearly 'wed' to personality/media in this inventive era of folk-traffic storytelling and 'personality' driven global culture/drama! ![]() I sometimes make vigilante-patriotism comics/fanfictions online and offer stick-figure sketch-doodles to complement my tales of the 'chess' of modern Earth-society vigilance, arguably a 'legacy' of the human lore created by the Fisher-Spassky rivalry during the otherwise 'dark' Cold-War. ![]() "I don't believe in psychology. I believe in good moves" (Bobby Fischer). ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) © 2022 Abishai100 |
