I couldn't believe Amlan Satan won the Oscar this year for his portrayal of an Algerian emigrant to Belfast who joins the new world-group called the 'Foreign Irish Republican Army' (F-IRA) given its heavy themes and controversial/sectarian matter, but perhaps that's the magic of movies these days --- exposure/Facebook (ha).

There were many starlets and photogenic folks at the media-event preceded by the Red Carpet walk of fashion-night which is the Oscar show. Many deserved to be honored or at least photographed, and so many people around the world tuned-in because of modern media/TV cable access amenities. It's a minor/modern miracle (really)!

So many different kinds of strange movies/cinema have been honored in Oscar's golden history. Every year, the winners receive that lovely golden Oscar statue-trophy for their performance/contributions to media and movies. It's all magic, despite the subject-matter, be it Earth politics-IQ or faraway-space horror or hometown sports comedy/romance!

No, but seriously folks, the performance offered by Amlan Satan for his portrayal of Algerian F-IRA demolitions/smuggling operative 'Storm-Shadow' was both frightening/eerie, and it reminded all why the United Kingdom sometimes feels anything but 'united' in scope/scale for courageously normal photojournalists. I'd hate to be one of those guys (ha).

Of course, some of the others winners honored were more-or-less the folks of triumph I'd anticipated to win, for their awesome/dazzling contributions to the work of cinema and documentary-arts and what comprises Western money for the arts in screen-format and magazine-friendly supermarket life/consumerism psychology.

AMLAN SATAN: I was pleased for this laurel, but what's really 'unusual' is the subject-matters of these stories; it's Hell for IQ.

What reminds me why movies are special is how I feel 'psychologically' eased into dealing with humanity's complex events/ideations and the endurance through difficulty or the celebration of things that are simply lovely/divine or even other-worldly. Sometimes I get an 'eerie' feeling Martians 'secretly' tune into Oscar-night (with their radio-scope devices of signals-detection, right?) and cheer on folks like Amlan Satan ('Storm-Shadow') who remind all why Earth is simply a place for movie-magic...or storyboard-darkness.
