The indomitable Steffi Graf of Germany is finally faced by the gorgeous Monica Seles of Yugoslavia in a women's tennis diorama.

I've written so much about men's sports on WritersCafe, that I thought I'd add just one single 'diary' with his fanfiction about the dioramic Graf-Seles rivalry in pro-women's tennis, lasting from 1989-1995, which offered TV-fans a glimpse of real competition dollars. I hope you like it,

The sun was shining on the rocketeer women's pro-tennis sensation Monica Seles of Yugoslavia. This star had risen through it all and surpassed the major contender's in the new-gen of women's tennis to win one of the coveted 4 Big Ones of women's tennis, the Grand Slams. Monica Seles wasn't always however the darling of women's pro-tennis. No, there was something in her way before she became a sunflower in this athletic limelight!

That something was Germany's Steffi Graf. This titan Athena of women's pro-tennis simply dominated the field for years, simply crushing any female tennis contender with a serious chance, including the very defiant Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina. Yes, Graf had marched onto consistent Grand Slam victories. That was the predictable story until the 16-year old Monica Seles of Yugoslavia reached the French Open finals to challenge the titan Graf and then lost this first meeting. However, she got notice from the world impressed by such a young challenger who, in many ways, reminded Graf of herself when she was younger!

Seles however reached the next French Open final to replay Graf and this time won the championship. Finally, the dominance of the Graf astrology in women's tennis had ended. Finally, women's tennis was no longer dangerously predictable and reminded fans of the earlier Evert-Navratilova gen of pro-women's tennis. Yes, the Seles-Graf rivalry became the 'thing' to watch on international TV. If there was a Grand Slam championship, fans of women's tennis wanted to see Steffi Graf face Monica Seles!

SELES: I don't consider myself an upstart but rather just a happy competitor!

Seles had a steady baseline prowess which countered Graf's powerful serve-and-volley imagination. However, Seles also exhibited a very strange soul-exertion energy 'grunt' playing style often critiqued by writers as too unfeminine for televised women's tennis. She was even admonished by Wimbledon judges to curb this grunting, which severely affected her play and may have resulted in her inability to overcome Graf in Wimbledon finals. However, the challenging Seles continued to trudge through to defeat Graf in multiple French Open and Australian Open finals and reach the #1 women's ranking in world tennis. When an irate maniac Graf fan-atic tried to murder Seles in the hopes of destroying Graf's only single unthinkable rival, fans were shocked but happy to see Seles miraculously return to health and defeat Graf in a future Australian Open. However, fans would always wonder if the Wimbledon 'grunt' censor would affect the way writers would cast this iconic Graf-Seles rivalry in tennis, a rivalry in women's sports that forever changed the way we conceived diaries!
