Isaac Satan and his wife Danielle and two young kids moved from Chicago to Maine when Isaac got a job as the director of the Maine health center. They moved into a house by the side of the road frequented by speeding cars. Soon after they moved in however, they started seeing strange misfortunes such as incidental odd minor injuries, lost wallets, stalling car, and shutting faucets. Their neighbor, an older man named Gage, warned Isaac that he and his Satan family were under some strange dark cloud or curse and may require some local shamanism and metaphysical cure from the local legendary Maine 'pet semetary' where children of the Maine town buried the dead bodies of pets in memory of the previous human inhabitants who'd suffered trying memories. Isaac ignored this very unusual spiritual advice until the Satan's youngest child was tragically and horrifically killed by a passing speeding car in front of their own house.

Isaac decided to get a pet kitten for the Satan family and named it Dartmouth, after the college where he studied comparative literature and psychology (Dartmouth College)! Dartmouth the Satan kitten was stricken with malaria and died and Isaac took the kitten's dead body to the old eccentric neighbor Gage and requested he escort them personally as their private shaman to this legendary Maine 'pet semetary' for a haunting-memory cleansing. Gage agreed and took Dartmouth the kitten and Isaac and his wife Danielle and their surviving child to the Maine 'pet semetary' for a prayer about transcending everyday demons. One week after this bizarre superstitious ritual at the mysteriously haunting Maine 'pet semetary' where Gage took the Satan family for the burial of their kitten Dartmouth, Isaac's wife Danielle started having incredibly wonderful and lucid dreams about being visited by the resurrected spirit of their other child who was killed by the speeding car!

ISAAC: Relax, darling, all will be ideal.

DANIELLE: Why're you carrying me, and why am I bleeding, Isaac?
ISAAC: I shot you in the leg, and you'll bleed slowly to death.

DANIELLE: What?

ISAAC: I'm burying your body in that magical 'pet semetary' for a special prayer.

DANIELLE: What?
ISAAC: Gage convinced me what we really need is an exorcism of trauma.

DANIELLE: Isaac, you've gone mad!

ISAAC: Relax, darling; you're bleeding and need to remain quiet and peaceful.

DANIELLE: Heaven help us.

ISAAC: Heaven will deliver the Satan family to dialysis.

DANIELLE: We're in hell.
