Wade Boggs: Irish Celebrity*A Story by Abishai100Narrator posits why the legendary Bo-Sox baseball player Wade Boggs reminds him why it's fun to 'feel' Irish on St. Patrick's Day, in a country where fanfare is akin to dragon-hearts.
Finally, alright, yes, I'm signing off with this champagne-post story about the legendary Bo-Sox American baseball player Wade Boggs who commented on the fun of feeling Irish on St. Patrick's Day. Isn't American sports really deep? Thanks for reading my friends (signing off),

==== Wade Boggs was a terrific Hall of Famer in MLB history. He was the sort of baseball player who made you really cheer from Boston and the Red Sox, especially if you weren't from New York and a Yankees fan, though Boggs spent some times in his later years as a Yankee player. Boggs gave the Red Sox a certain pizzazz and prestige simultaneously, and he commented on Twitter that it felt 'great to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day' and also stated on TV that he once drank many beers on one day. This is the sort of 'Irish celebrity' that makes you cheer for things like Boston Market chicken and Boston Cream Pie doughnuts. Don't you love Boston? It's such a terrific Irish-Catholic centric U.S. city, boasting outstanding schools and a terrific populace. I'm not a Bruins fan (NHL), but I do love the Celtics and the Sox' legendary Wade Boggs. Who doesn't like Maureen O'Hara and her excellent role in The Quiet Man (John Wayne)? This is a movie about an American boxer who wants to retire to Ireland and meets a gorgeous Irish woman whom he has to court despite the audacious demands of the pretty woman's family (and brother!). Maybe Wade Boggs had a secret crush on Maureen O'Hara. Why not? I'm a big fan of sports. I'm originally from India. I cheered for the Indian cricket legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar who was a real genius. When I moved to America, I began cheering for the Boston Celtics, Wade Boggs and the Bo-Sox, and Eric Lindros of the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL). Odd, given that my greatest sport of personal skill remains soccer, and I was a great admirer of the soccer legends Mario Kempes and Lionel Messi (Argentina). I sit back and admire my Wade Boggs baseball-card now and imagine myself feeling (and looking!) really cool, since I'm an aficionado of the special 'American Irish spirit' of Wade Boggs in Boston. Was Boggs a leprechaun? Do you think I'm a fairy? How do I look in this photo of myself cast as Racer-X? Imagine the fun of supposing this is my soccer-star trading-card, paired nicely with the Boggs Topps card I now own. Cool stuff, right? That's just me. WADE BOGGS: I don't know this guy, but I still maintain it's really terrific to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day in Boston (America). God bless American baseball...and sports! ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) © 2020 Abishai100 |
