Wise Men PlagueA Story by Abishai100In a post-apocalypse dark city ruled by shadowy investors called Speculators, a terrible plague emerges from instincts about self-destruction.Sorry but since it's close to New Year's, I had to retire with an homage to my more favorite genre of short-story writing, 'dark city' comics-oriented tales (mostly inspired by my love of Stephen King and Batman!). Cheers (signing off), ==== "America had fallen during the great World War, and the post-apocalypse landscape was one of scrambling grouping behaviors and survival mandates. The United Nations remnants rebuilt civilization, and the leftovers of America would continue to solidify as the Big Brother of any hope of enduring capitalism! In this atmosphere, people and new city-states considered Earth as a laboratory for pragmatism and from the ashes came a new breed of governance, one geared towards mental resilience." "The elected rulers in America were known as the Speculators, who embodied all the capitalism-rhetoric from the old world! The Speculators roamed around the countryside and cities, or what was left of them, and knocked on doors of shelters, requesting survivors of the World War to invest in the shared Bond Coffer (BC) that would substitute for the D.C. National Treasury and Tax-System. The Speculators also encouraged survivors to find ways to celebrate Christianity in small groups, but mostly they wanted America to be the figurehead of investment voyeurism." "As the Speculators built a new 'aesthetic' of American survivalism, and the world became a mattress for resilience and investment opportunism, the ashes of the World War were slowly being laid to rest and forgotten in memory. However, there then arose a truly awful devastating plague of Biblical proportions. This plague created madness, schizophrenia, seizures and perspiration, and a murderous fever. This plague was called the Wise Men Plague (WMP) by the American government, since it led the mind to adopt and adorn forms of self-destructive deception (pathological lying) geared towards an over-exuberance regarding the 'tactile' quality of criminality. The WMP was 10 times worse than AIDS and Ebola." "As doctors and psychologists from around the world scrambled to determine how to deliver the right psychiatric and psycho-somatic medicines to the devastated modern global population of World War survivors, poets and gypsies remarked on the endurance of the human mind in times of extreme presences of complete vanity. In fact, the WMP was considered a capitalism 'destroyer' by the Speculators in America! Women wondered if Earth would ever again be a 'tiny blue planet' of tangible Christianity." SPECULATOR 1: It seems the Wise Men Plague will infect youth. SPECULATOR 2: Everyone is impacted by sensitivity to rage. SPECULATOR 1: This is a time of great inquiry. SPECULATOR 2: We must remain calm about the ornamentation of medicine. SPECULATOR 1: Can Earth once again be a haven for spiritualists? SPECULATOR 2: We must resurrect the general faith in capitalism experiments! SPECULATOR 1: Perhaps the right medicine will create the right stuff. SPECULATOR 2: Perhaps we need new media networks to inspire free-speech. SPECULATOR 1: Remember the danger of free-speech is mob psychology! SPECULATOR 2: Well, we must account for the instinctual yearning for bone strength. SPECULATOR 1: Yes, everyone loves milk. ====
