The Soccer Wife

Ajay is a soccer start who marries a perfect wife and starts raising a real 'soccer family.'

Well, I keep saying I'm retiring, but I had the obsessive need to write a vignette about a soccer family/wife, since I've grown up with a distinct passion for the lovely sport of soccer, and this yarn was inspired by the film Hotshot (one of my favorite movies of all time!).

Ajay Satan was a highly-paid world soccer player for the Spanish La Liga team Valencia which sat atop its table and prepared to perform well in the UEFA Champions League in 2020! Ajay had everything going for him, having gone up the ranks from high-school soccer into junior-league under-pro soccer and then into European club soccer. He was now going to perform well, predictably, for the Spanish national team, playing alongside the great David Silva, now a veteran, and hoping to help Spain grab another World Cup title/trophy. All Ajay needed now in his life was love and romance, and he met a beautiful American model named Megan who suited him perfectly!

Ajay took Megan to all kinds of places all around Spain when he wasn't playing soccer. She was a big fan of Spanish food and Spanish music, so Ajay took her to Spanish clubs and eateries with music-entertainment and even dancing. This was a great romance, and Megan inspired Ajay to be a better human being and focused soccer star. In fact, when Ajay's Valencia team squared off against the mighty Chelsea from England's Premier League in the UEFA tourney, Megan was there cheering for her new beau-star and watched as he scored two outstanding goals against Chelsea and helped Valencia move on in the great tournament. Ajay decided to get a Chelsea game-victory ball for Megan and he'd eventually ask her to marry him.

Ajay and Megan got married and had one son just one year later, just one year after Valencia did indeed win the UEFA Champions League tourney/trophy! Their son, named Amlan, was a beautiful baby, and Ajay purchased a giant Plasma HD-TV and a concept soccer-video game which he played in front of his infant son so his son, Amlan, could learn about the teamwork wizardry and geometric elegance and thrill of soccer. Ajay hoped as Amlan grew up, he'd develop at least a spectator's interest in the world sport of soccer. Megan was happy Ajay took such an active interest in the imagination-development of their darling son.

As soccer became more popular in the international community and media, mostly thanks to the popularity of the successful US women's national team which had captured its 4th World Cup title, Ajay and Megan realized their affection for European soccer just might translate into more worldly routes to media oriented fortunes for their son Amlan. After all, soccer had been for so many years a sport mostly popular in South America, Europe, and Africa, and not so much in America. Now that Americans were adorning/adopting soccer, Ajay imagined his son would grow up thinking his father was not just 'Euro-obsessed.'

Of course, soccer remained a predominantly male sport followed mostly in Europe, Africa, and South America! Fortunately, thanks to the rising popularity of EA Sports' series of FIFA-soccer video-games for the PlayStation/Xbox in America and around the world, soccer continued to gain in following among the youngsters of the modern world. This pleased Megan Satan, Amlan's mother (Ajay's wife!), because she really didn't want her son growing up thinking that his father Ajay's occupation with European soccer would limit Amlan's potential interest in moving to America and working on Wall Street (which was Megan's secret daydream!).

Ajay Satan helped Spain win another World Cup title, and when Amlan turned 10 years old, he began collecting world soccer trading-cards and purchased the very valuable sports-cards of the legendary soccer players Johann Cruyff (Netherlands) and Franz Beckenbauer (Germany). Ajay was impressed with his son Amlan's soccer-card collection and guesstimated it was worth quite a bit of money. Megan wondered if Amlan was developing a fruitful interest in economics and market investing (e.g., Wall Street!). Ajay purchased an Xbox and the newest FIFA-soccer video-game for his son. Amlan, however, continued to foster his special interest in soccer trading-cards! His collection was outstanding.
