For Sale (Lightly Used)

For Sale (Lightly Used)

A Poem by Anon

GARAGE SALE

Main Street

Prices Fair! • Snacks to Eat!

people come from all around

to see the lost things we have found

card tables replete with toys

memories from girls and boys

on one is me, my limbs are splayed

from up above I hear them say

“he’s in good condition, sure

but marked upon his boot - impure!”

but sir, that’s my name you see

the marking is a part of me

a memory from good times passed

enduring bad times - now, alas -

through good and bad we’ve been together

the endless storms that we have weathered -

heere lieth all my youth

                  all for sale

          lightly used ∎
