The Mountain I Climb for YouA Poem by Abhishek RamThe things we do for love, the things we do to be loved, the things we do to get to love, the things love does to us.This mountain seems insurmountable, My heart can only take so much without being stable, But I keep pushing forward, jumping from every ledge, I climb and fall, but I never stop, aiming for the topmost edge. I climb this mountain for you, For the hope that you are waiting on top, There's nothing I wouldn't do, To get to you, 'til I do, I will not stop. I can get pushed, I can trip, I can die on this trip, But I'll resurrect myself always, always keeping a grip, I walk through a minefield of crevasses, jumping from obstacle to obstacle, Trying to survive this evil "hole" - some debacle, All so I can get to you. There's nothing I wouldn't do. I stick to my desire like it's made of glue So I can keep the image of us sticking in my mind, So it won't fall off the wall of my consciousness, And so you are forever on my mind, found in every seen essence, Of beautiful things I spy with my little eyes, Those flowers I see by the trail, the princess I see that will kiss the toad, And I become your prince, and that makes me cry, That I am so far, but I want to be so close, Like the two pieces of ever baking toast, That I make for us when we are one, Because, without you, I have none... Nothing of anything, only my dreams, Images and desires, as it would seem. So I keep crawling and climbing like ivy on a building, Looking for the sustenance that is you, That which keeps me alive, And that is all I think of, how much it's you I'm missing, And how the only thing I can do, Is keep going after every fall and dive, As I climb to meet you at the top, And until then, I will never stop. © 2016 Abhishek Ram |
