WoundsA Poem by Abhishek RamCivilly disobey the haters, don't stoop to their levelMy blood drips from open wounds, That are left to fester because nobody cares, Oh if only someone would! But, unfortunately, no one dares... I cannot reach these cuts, burrowed so deep in me, Farther I dare to explore and see, And how can I? I cannot avoid getting these cuts, I cannot avoid spilling the blood of the hated, but… Oh if only I could be healed! But, no I get infected by a supreme thirst from the blood loss, The thirst for retribution! The thirst of the blood of the self-blessed! The ones who use words to hurt, a system that cannot be fought, And it is idea vengeance that many, including me, have sought, But someone comes along as I lay thoroughly verbally beaten, The one who helps me up from the attack of the heathen, The heathen who refuse to believe the importance of all, And this person comes along and answers my call, The first one! And then more come, to help dress the painful cuts With a kind word, wielding a just sword, And no longer am I infected by the attack of words, And no longer am I thirsty for what revenge that drove me nuts. Fight the words! Stay your inhibitions! Do not retaliate! You are not alone in your fight, your struggle, There are people who care who number more than one can calculate, Don’t fall into life’s great hateful puzzle! Ignore those heathen who don’t believe in the God in all, Those that “look down” on you, those who seem to stand so tall, Because people do care about you, they lie so much, For they cannot find the same love in anything they touch. Civilly Disobey the System, and you’ll do great, Don’t ever heavily retaliate, Fight with power by leaving it be, And soon they’ll regret doing what they did distastefully.© 2015 Abhishek Ram |
