Guardian Angels

Guardian Angels

A Poem by Abhishek Ram
"

R.I.P. the many who watch over us

"

There are two stages to existence,

One that may be fleeting, and one that is omnipresent,

Both can cause pain beyond what anything else could dispense,

What you and I refer to as life and death,

Death, it seems to come to everyone,

Stars - both music and astral, such Elvis Presley or any sun,

It comes to you when your time is done,

But things aren't always as they seem...

Death ends a life but maybe life continues even after,

Essence in the air we breath may be our loved ones,

Watching us, walking with us for protection,

Our guardians angels whom with God they confer,

Earning their eternal place in Heaven, keeping us alive,

While we think of their existence, we are deprived,

Isn't it a cold thing, not knowing the truth of the afterlife?

Unable to find a parent, a grandparent, a husband or wife?

Watching us at every turn, willing us ahead,

From the moment we wake up till we go to bed?

But maybe just as well, it's good not to know,

It may delete or even add to our sorrow,

We all miss loved ones, I do too,

Sirs and ma'ams, things have changed without you,

People now carry the burden of grief in their heart,

Its yet another burden that they cart,

We all solely wish to inform you, that you are very much missed,

We remember fondly the moments when we saw your life exist,

We hope to see on the other side, when our times may arrive,

When things end and we are no longer alive.

I think that we'd all like to believe that those whom we love and have lost are still with us in some way. This is a beautiful poem expressing that. Though I like your creative wondering, I don't think I would want to know if they are really there or not; one way is too much pressure, and the other is sole disappointment.

Excellent poem.

Nice rhyme scheme :) But on a more serious note, I like the way you ponder the unknown in a creative way. The line "Essence in the air may be our loved ones" really stuck with me and Is the example I would use to describe what I was referring to when I mentioned "pondering the unknown in a creative way.'
