The End of Racism

The End of Racism

A Poem by Abhishek Ram
"

My way of ending racism

"

Humanity is like the color wheel,

Most of the colors are represented,

Its a notion that has a seal,

On the stamp humanity is presented.

And yet, these coexisting colors don’t get along?

Racism is a real b***h,

Against anything from a white person,

To a female dog,

Racism can happen to anyone.

It needs to stop, but this is not the way.

Isn’t the daily reminder of 60 million in the past enough?

Doesn’t history teach us about all the genocides and stuff?

But, don’t you see how nice many of them are now?

Why dwell on the past if you want to go to the future?

I understand that white people have done the most atrocious things to others,

I myself have experienced the same now as my ancestors did before,

As a part of British India, but see how things are now?

Once they invaded us, now we invade them.

Once your family may have been slaves or laborers,

But now you are free and safe,

To exercise free will and rights to a better future,

And this is what you choose to do?

Racism exists, it will exist, there’s nothing we can do.

If we keep complaining about everything that happens,

Then it will keep happening.

As long as people remember the past, we can build a better future,

But we mustn't dwell on the past or we will live in past,

Keep that in mind.

All of you complaining, I’ve experienced racism too,

But it won’t do anything bringing it on further by giving it too much,

The attention makes it worse, ignoring it makes it better,

Give it less importance and it will phase out.
