Restrained FreedomA Poem by Abhishek RamThis is just live advice - not very poetic in a sense, but I did it anyways :)This morning, I woke up with chains around me, My arms, legs, and neck bound so tight, I could stand up and I could move around, But only in a path set for me. I followed the path all day, trapped but free, And then, I came back home and it was late at night, So I followed the path back to my bed where I slept sound, And experienced in my slumber a dream about liberty, A dream where I’m not set in stone, A dream where I can live free and alone. The next morning, I woke up absolutely unrestrained, My chains are gone, the path is gone, I was free to roam, “I am now free to follow my dreams”, I ordained, And with this, I invested time in a new decorum, I changed the way my life looked completely, Followed my dreams and became happy, Not at the expense of what’s important though, I learned that the chains helped too, Don’t let the chains restrict you, hold you, keep you, Let them teach you, help you, protect and keep you, But work with those chains to be free and then some, So that you can have restrained freedom, Learn to work with bounds to be free, And your life will know no bounds, But still be happy and free.© 2015 Abhishek Ram |
