Happy Depression of Love

Is it true or is it not? Does love exist without any doubt?

I grew up to a young man of fourteen,

Believing everyone had a soulmate -

Man or woman or something in between,

But then why does the feeling of forever alone exist?

If love truly isn't just a name for biological imperative to fornicate?

Seriously, though, does love exist? Or is it just biology?

Why put a humane notion upon that which is evolutionary,

Its all about sex, that's what it seems to be:

And yet the notion of two lovers is real, so so many decree.

There are days that I believe, there are days that I want to believe,

That love isn't just an excuse for children to be conceived,

But if not, then how come we fall for many people throughout our lives?

Like the first the caterer to our sex drives?

Go ahead, feed me hopeful feelings, that I may find love someday,

And till then, I will try not to believe everything you say,

But how can I not? How can I ignore you?

When I'm still a human getting stomped on by Love's ugly shoes.

I hope, reader, you have found yourself mutual love,

And that you remain happy as long as you live,

That you and your lover are like turtledoves,

And to keep that you both seriously strive,

Meanwhile, I shall live in solitude, the life of the happily depressed,

The life of the dim glory, or the relaxedly stressed,

And I shall inform you if I find a partner to love without bounds,

That does not push me, leave me, or bury me in my sadness 6 feet underground.
