Depression.

Depression.

A Chapter by Abeer Tarek

Depression.

"It's not sadness, it's emptiness. It feels like your tiny heart is hollowed out, yet it's too heavy to carry in your chest, like it's slowly drowning in the darkest depths of the ocean. You almost feel no emotions anymore, you don't love, you don't hate, you don't smile and you don't cry. All you feel is an immense amount of pain in your chest, a pain so unbearable that you'd rather harm yourself to forget about it, because physical pain is nothing compared to emotional pain, yet it manages to distract you a bit from that pain in your chest. You don't feel like eating or going out, all you want to do is sleep, to forget about all of it, and hope one day you'll wake up feeling alright, feeling like your heart is healthy again after being torn apart, feeling like this tragic nightmare is over, it may not happen but once depression controls you, that's the only hope you have."
