AnimalA Poem by Abdulaz UgasThis is the first-ever poem I've written. I loved using my words sparingly and I felt i said so much with so little.
It's near sunset;
blue skies; pink clouds. orange-colored sun lets me know its time to run A beaten-down sandy path in-between whispering trees, the leaves rustling a vibrant green dance I'm caught in natures trance; allured by the fresh oxygen pumping through my veins I awaken, once again running full-throttle I imagine myself a hunter-gatherer, in battle surviving other animals surviving hunger feeding off nature And nature feeding off me A perfect circle This run, just a hurdle I become wild, an animal my afro no longer a style, but just fur--warmth; my brown skin belonging to no "race;" just nature's camouflage. All social-constructs now a big joke; laughable A green butterfly crosses my path, simple, elegant--living just a few days. I'm a "god" in comparison with that math, living a thousand butterfly years! Ego's taking-over, separating me from all but is quickly snarled-down: For we come and go; Our existence nothing more than a blip in space. Life so meaningful, yet meaningless. Balance: I stay grounded, but am not afraid to fly, My breathing and heart-beat sped, time slows down to a crawl, Now meaningless in nature; the setting sun my clock. © 2014 Abdulaz UgasAuthor's Note
