The Silent SoulA Poem by AbbyA poem inspired by the song "Chevaliers De Sangreal" by Hans Zimmer. For the contest "Poem Off of Music" created by John A. Stussy. In the distance a silent wind whispers. So far, yet seen with an aching eye. An eye that has seen too much. Felt so much pain.
My heart is strained as tears fall from my eyes. The howl of the night is closing in, Binding my soul to the concept of imprisonment. I could not bear a life of pain. The vision draws closer. I see it coming, threatening to take me over, It’s steady heartbeat pounding through the earth, The driving force penetrating all that it touches. It holds me captivated to its sympathy, A sight by which I have never seen. Such beauty, mingled with such sweet anguish. Nothing in this life could have the courage to compare. It is upon me, the sweet words of rejoice. A sightless lie in this dark night. It has deceived me, for it is not evil, Though the look of it frightens my soul. This vision. This hope. This dream. It appeared as a threat. But now… Now it is all I live for. All that lets my heart cry free. The unending fusion of the senses, Upon a high and distant land. I have seen the future. A destiny. Our destiny. But on this night I have realized There is no escape for the passionate. We must endure this world as one, Watch the desperate souls cry around us, searching for answers. There is nothing we can do. There is a time when we must learn for ourselves The direction of dreams and sacrifice. The subtle differences that makes this world one. Without pain we are nothing, A faint glint in time that passes in a moment. It is our job the rescue the wounded, With every bit of freedom we have. We are the followers who must choose for ourselves. We are the light that escapes from the captive heart. We are hope, pain and sadness. We are life. © 2008 AbbyAuthor's Note
