Pick Me. Choose Me. Love Me. 002

Chapter Two.
The room had definitely lived up to my expectations. The walls had been painted a dark purple, and there were soft purple lights strung around the perimeter of the room where the ceiling and wall met. There was already a bed that was about three times as big as my old bed. It had been made and dressed with a big comfy purple comforter, and a violet sheet. I'd always wanted a room just like this. It smelled like...Febreze and fresh paint. Mom was definitely behind this.
I set my boxes on the carpeted floor and went back down the stairs. Mom was in the kitchen talking to Jaylee. I ran up behind her and gave her a big hug.
"Mom, thank you so much. I know you put them up to doing my room all fancy because you're the only one that knows about my secret room fantasies. I love you." I said all in one breath. She laughed at me and patted my shoulder.
"Oh, Emily, it was Jaylee's idea to decorate the rooms, I just supplied the secrets." She said, smiling.
"Jaylee, thank you so much, You're gonna be the coolest step-sister ever." I said, hugging her as well.
The next few weeks left of summer went super fast because we were so busy with enrolling Shay and I into school, settling into our new super fantastically awesome house, and using our even more amazing back yard extravaganza to our advantage. Then, I went outside.
I hadn't really been keeping up with my normal activities: Photography, bike riding, etc. Today, I really wanted to be Dora The Explorer and take a peek around with my bike and camera. Who knew that such a simple action as riding my bike would flip my world over like a pancake? Not me.
"What if she doesn't want to come, mom? I'm not 12. I'll be fine." I told my mom.
"I know you're not, Emily, but what if you got lost?" Ugh. She had a point. As always. I suck at directions.
"Fine. I'll ask." I said, trudging up to Jaylee's room. No, it's not because I didn't want to spend time with her, I just liked being alone on my rides.
"Jaylee? You in there?" I asked, knocking on her door.
"Yeah! Come in!" She called. I opened the door and proposed the idea to tag along with me. She seemed to like the idea.
"Sure! That sounds like fun." She said. "Let me put on some shoes, I'll be down in a second." I smiled back at her and climbed back down the stairs.
"Bye, mom." I said, grabbing my camera off the counter. It was my prized possession. I saved up for months on end to pay for this gorgeous piece of awesomeness. If I lost it, I would be crying for weeks.
Jaylee was riding in front of me, leading the way to the local park. The trees were so much more alive here, and not so...oak-y. And there was grass, and little hills instead of rocks littering the landscape. It was beautiful.
Finally, we arrived at the park. There was a jungle gym, a sandbox, and a grassy area where kids were playing tag. There were benches scattered among the trees and else where; some had couples on them, others were empty, just holding memories of other couples past. The whole scene seeped through my skin and made me smile. I stood back and took a picture over-viewing the whole thing. It was perfect.
Meanwhile, as I was taking it in, Jaylee was standing back, silently watching.
"Do you wanna do me a favor?" I asked, swiveling to face her. She smiled and nodded.
"See, I need someone to take pictures of. Wanna be my model?"
"Really? Yeah! I mean, I'm not dressed up or anything..." She said, gesturing to her plain white dress that went right to her knees.
"You look perfect. Okay, what I want you to do is sit right in between that bush and that tree. Cross your legs, one over the other, and lean back on your hands, kay?" I said, pointing and directing.
She ran over and did exactly what I asked.
"Good! Now, just tilt your head to the side and smile." And she did. I quickly snapped three shots. I was going to take a fourth, but there was a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and there was a brown haired, brown eyed boy about my age.
"Hi. I'm Adam."

I like how this story develops fast, yet it has a great amount of detail that makes it hard to stop reading. :) Emily is a fun, unique version of a teenager, and her situation sounds very fun! I can't wait to read more! ^_^ Great job, keep writing, and God Bless :)
