Bring Me Back

Bring Me Back

A Poem by Abby Johnson
"

Recent breakup.

"
Bring me back.
To us.
To the smiles and laughs.
Bring me back.
To your blushing.
To your eyes sparkling.
Bring me back.
To before the blood was shed,
To before you had to do that to me.
Bring me back.
To when we were perfect.
To when the rest of the world was gone.
Just us.
Bring me back.
To when I took all the pain away,
To when I was important to you,
To when I wasn't worthless.
Bring me back.
To all the promises,
To all the dreams,
To all the smiles.
Bring me back.
From this.
Alone.
Bring me back.

Bring me back indeed... I feel the message of this resonate deep within. The structure adds to the feeling of "back". Good call. My favorite stanza, however is this:
"Bring me back."
"To when we were perfect.
To when the rest of the world was gone.
Just us."

This is very touching, but sad as well. I know how horrid it feels to be alone and yearning for someone, but these rough times can make us stronger as well. I wish the best of luck to you Abby, and kudos.
