She Bought a Flower

She Bought a Flower

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

She Bought a Flower

She felt uneasy,
when their eyes
turned to sand.

The words
or lack there of,
echoed past
her imaginary boundaries.

It was the Cheshire;
broken cliché pieces
of a much larger puzzle,
a tapestry.

And she could feel the ripples,
the taste palpable,
it was awkward.

She didn’t feel comfortable
with them anymore.

Learning;
unconditional means conditional
and honesty has a price,
if not at all warranted.

She lights a cigarette,
blowing smoke rings
a gift to the moon,
and the stars she used to see.
