Pleased to Piss

Pleased to Piss

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

Pleased to Piss

Pleased to piss
in a stream,
headed nowhere
but the full grayness
of the ocean.

Somewhat like
the salt and pepper
of an old mans hair,
coincidently;
standing beside me,
but not next to me.

A fine cigar
would taste better now,
soaked in good whiskey.

Making a sparrow cough
across the way,
caught in a stream
of it’s own.

I pass the tobacco
to this mysterious
Mr. Mr.

And he smiles
as he wipes away
the pink lip-gloss
from the smoldering cigarette.

Like he’s done,
a thousand times before.

Very good. Elusive meaning in the beginning which tantalizes the reader's senses, making the reader want to continue reading. Beautifully and directly written, a difficult combination of things to entwine, particularly with an abstract meaning. I really liked it.
