Lemon Mist

Lemon Mist

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

Lemon Mist

In particular anger;

a tinge of lemon mist

circles the air,

puckered.

It feels like fingers

wrapped around the heart,

leaving prints

that could end

or start life.

Again.

Suspicion;

what to make of

labored breathing.

Good or bad?

Most likely exhilarating.

Even if that final beat

has nowhere

left to go.

At least by then

it’s over.

Absolutely.

I really enjoyed reading this. The flow, rhythm, tone and atmosphere of the poem are intoxicating, they really draw you in. The imagery took over my mind and for a moment I was trapped within this poem, and I loved it. Great use of punctuation! This is a wonderful poem, well done!
