Starlight

Starlight

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

Starlight

Bringing down mountains

just as subtle,

as standing

in small spaces.

There is oil in the reeds,

and on the duck,

and under the dock

just over the hill.

Wet is replaced by stick;

rimming a margarita glass

with more than just

sand and salt.

And the smell comes

with the breeze offshore,

bringing water to the eyes.

Reminiscent of starlight.

great imagery...turns of phrase...love the alliteration in the first stanza and the delicate way in which you treat a tragedy...
