Up

Up

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

Up

Up from the ground,

keeping pieces of glass

in her purse

like candy.

It made her ill

to think life

a cage,

just heartbeats away from

someone more fortunate.

And she quietly weeps

when looking for her lipstick.

The purse filling with blood.
