Ripple

Ripple

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

Ripple

You never had to ask,

I was always there for you,

always.

I held your hand through fire,

scraped ice off your windshield

in a blizzard,

we talked for hours

about nothing,

and everything.

I would have walked

to the end of the world

with you; friend,

you never had to ask.

I was always there for you,

always.

Now I need you

and I cant remember

your face,

or the smell of your perfume.

“Friends are just a bonus

when I need them!”

you said.

Even me?

That was cruel.

I guess I don’t matter anymore,

perhaps I never did.

And it doesn’t bother you

that my world is destroyed,

just as long as you’re happy.

Smiling;

as you seem to be.
