Broken Heel?

Broken Heel?

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

Broken Heel?

It was done

out of anger

and not out of respect.

The heel from

my boot

died at the bottom

of the stairs.

Fixable, but frustrating.

Still my mouth

was dry

as sheetrock tape,

my teeth hurt

from a strangers

class ring.

But it made me feel

accepted, somehow.

That’s all I ever wanted,

really.

And ignoring

the stares

from the people I love the most,

I picked myself up,

and felt reborn.
