Sweat

Sweat

A Poem by Abigale LeCavalier

Sweat

It was the first

of many nightmares,

the sweet sweat

in the corners

of someone else’s eyes.

A beggar in the bathroom,

the paper chase,

gripping things intangible

yet unacceptable.

And the sloshing

of brandy

poured in

a paper cup.

It lacks the taste

of glass.

Or the feeling

of wine.

Swimming down stream

in the gutters,

a strangers

wet dream.
