Shadows on the Wall

Shadows on the Wall

A Poem by Abaxial
"

The thoughts at night can so often turn from that of laughingly nostalgic to remoursefully so. Life is funny, and so are all the connections we retain long after the events themselves have faded.

"

I, restless, slept last Saturday,

while thoughts of you pranced

joyfully in unison with prodding

of my heart to ribs. I laughed out loud

to feel it there, inside me, so alive

as though you stood in the frame

of my doorway, grey-blue eyes

lit with something more than

simple fondness and desire.

Then darker thoughts intruded

on my blissfull state of union

with my matress and my dreams

where you had been, were shadows

of the way we fought, tooth and nail.

still loving, without understanding,

that the twinning of our bodies did not

include the rapture of our souls

intersecting when our passions met.

Creative. Amazing how you speak of shadows as if they are truly people. I like the way that you laughed just to feel her there. Great write.
