I was happy and lone,
I was in my safe zone,
You came knocking down at my heart’s doors,
Even though it was doubly locked.
I said go away but you insisted to open,
I asked you why, what you want?
You said with an explorer’s curiosity;
That you have always wondered what’s behind.
I thought you were innocent and I unlocked,
The first one went down easily but the second one was hard to let go,
Here I was with my world open, we chatted for a while,
You said you never thought it is so beautiful inside.
I asked you politely if you would want to come in,
I knew you did and I knew I did; so I let you in,
We got to know each other more,
You asked why were the doors locked?
I replied with my eyes filled with salty waters,
That I am scared of being weaker,
You said a heart this pretty made you fall in love,
Accepting it with all the secrets and the fears.
You claimed it and I welcomed you,
You stayed with me in there and I did let you.
I painted the walls of my heart in your favorite colors,
No more locked doors and no more borders.
And then you changed your favorites stating that you were bored,
You didn’t like the walls anymore and wished to explore more,
You wanted to leave, walk straight out of those doors,
And one day you were just gone.
I waited and waited but the walls were torn,
I was in misery I was in pain,
I felt too weak to stand,
I crawled my way back to the doors to shut them again.
But as I stood there I realized it doesn’t matter anymore,
I don’t care who walks in or if any one walks in those doors,
I don’t need to lock them now that you have left,
As you took everything that my heart once owned.
