Desert Sunset

Desert Sunset

A Poem by PhoenixSongWriter

Quiet heat...

Setting sun...

Desert solitude...

Day is done...

Shimmering rays

Of sunlight fall

Across the land,

A golden wall.

A distant howl

Fills the air.

An echoed response

Lingering there.

Cacti stand

Like silent peoples.

Spires rise

Like towering steeples.

The sun drops down,

The sky gets dark,

The stars come alive,

Each a flickering spark.

I'd say keep it going. It moves from the desert to the sky, almost forgetting where you are at. I wonder what makes a desert a desert in the dark.
