14th moon

14th moon

A Poem by kimpetersen13kp

Ink black night sky.

The moon on the 14th night.

Hira said that it wasn’t

a full moon.

Isn’t that strange?

How can it be true?

The part of it

that is cut away,

doesn’t it mimic

a full moon

so beautifully?

The glass of whiskey

on your desk,

the shape of your mouth

decorating the rim.

A pretty crescent moon.

Does all things in life

mirror the moon?

Desperately.

Enough so,

even the moon

performs itself.

To look alike,

but isn’t actually.

Looks like your mouth,

but couldn’t be.

I know it too well.

In the way I can tell

the difference

between the full moon

and the moon on the 14th.

Especially in an

ink black night sky.
