A Cockroach

A Cockroach

A Story by A Bitter FooL
"

A girl wakes up after a drug induced blackout

"

Dazed and nauseous, she sits up in a puddle of her own making.
Is this urine or vomit? She scoffs for she does not know.
The walls of her latest resting place is covered in the scribbles and rants of rebellious cowards.
A cockroach scatters past.

Concrete on all sides, broken only by an opening a window may have called home.
Societies under belly stared down on her apathy.
An undiscernible murmur escapes her lips.
A cockroach scatters back.

Shuffling through her coat, she discovers a crack in her addiction.
With an unenthusiastic heave she hurls the pipe at a wall.
A cockroach scatters closer.

She slumps back, defeated by a day so young.
Her eyes begin to drift back into a world without care.
A cockroach sits still.
