Chapter Four-The LetterA Chapter by AWickedMoonChapter Four- The Letter “I borrowed it? Besides technically they stole it first.” X said with a shrug. “Why did you steal it?!” She yelled pointing at the statue of Heru. “I don’t
know I just liked it.” Sapphire sighed knowing to well there was no reasoning
with X over this. She knew Xs grasp of the
concept of right and wrong was iffy at best. But considering her back ground it made sense. About ten minutes later an old beaten tow truck
pulled into view X’s 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo trailing behind it. It was a black car with tinted windows. Hot red accents burned their way across the
sides. “There now that’s a car!” X said motioning her arms in a grand gesture.”
After they had gotten back on to the
highway, and with X driving at least 50 over the speed limit. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the
yellowing envelope holding it out for Sapphire. “What’s this?” She said snatching it out of Xs hand. “A letter it was sent to the Dendera, which they
had delivered to me.” On the front of it there was a big "X". No address no return address. Carefully she pulled out the letter to read
it, but the only thing on it was a name, some numbers, and what looked to be
Arabic written in very messy handwriting. Sahen Harris Town of Coltsfoot 19891221 هو الذي يمكن أن
تقع والذباب لا “Who’s Sahen Harris?” She asked her face bunching up as she tried
to make sense of the letter. “I have no
idea.” X answered. “What about the numbers?” Sapphire asked. “Not a clue.” X said a devious grin crept upon her face. “Where’s Coltsfoot?” “Where were headed.” “Well then looks like we have an extra piece of
information on our side this time round Sherlock.” Sapphire said waving the letter out in front
of her. “It would appear so.” X said her face now
exploded in to a smile. “Hey now that I’m early we can have some fun
before we get down to business!” Sapphire said a huge smile erupting on her
face. “That reminds me you’ll be working at “Katy’s Crazy Flowers.” Three hours later they pulled into Coltsfoot 7’11. Sapphire
filled up the car and X went inside. The
cashier quickly looked up from his book to state a quick “Hi” X moved over to
the packaged food and grabbed an assortment of chips, candy, and pop. Then headed back to the front. She shoved everything on the counter and leaned
against it with her back towards him so she could watch for Sapphire. “Hey, any good party places around here?’ She tossed the question over
her shoulder at the cashier. “Well I suppose there’s The Flat but it’s not the kinda place girls want
to hang around at this time of night. “Hmm… is that so? Sounds exactly like my kind of place.” She said flipping around to face the cashier
as Sapphire walked into the store. X
took in the cashier his short brown hair, blue eyes and glasses, a handsome face;
he had all the makings of that nerdy bad boy look. Looking right in to Gawain’s big blue doe eyes
or at least that’s what his name badge said. X asked “Where do you like to
party?” A dangerous look played in her
eyes. “I….uhh…” He swallowed hard,
starting to chew on his bottom lip. He
looked at X like a deer caught in the headlights. “Alright I thought we were supposed to be making friends here not
scaring the poor cashier’s.” Sapphire
said as she walked up flashing him a smile and he was able to peel his gaze
away long enough to get it stuck on Sapphire.
“Hi I’m Sapphire were new in town it’s nice to meet you.” Sapphire said holding her hand out. Gawain dropped his gaze ignoring her hand and
quickly started to ring in the items, avoiding looking at either of them. Sapphire dropped her hand on the counter and
glared at X. “Meh… Was just looking for a
little fun, our new friend Gawain here says that The Flat is where the party’s
at.” “Well actu-“he clamped his mouth shut as X shot him a look. “Well it was nice meeting you but I think well be leaving now.” X said throwing some large bills on the
counter. “I really can’t believe you! Do
you have to be so rude?!” Sapphire asked
opening the door to the car and slamming it shut before getting an answer. X got in to the car and leaned over to
her. “Awe are you really that upset
sweet cakes?” She asked in a taunting
voice tracing a finger under Sapphires chin. “Yes, yes I am! Sometimes I
wonder what it would be like if I didn’t have to put up with you!” Sapphire yelled her face growing hot. “You know then I’d be able to have friends,
do normal things!” X backed up and looked expressionless at Sapphire. “No!
I’m not taking it back I don’t care what you do or say.” Sapphire said crossing her arms and looking
out the window. “Ok.” X said putting the car into
drive and taking off. They drove for a
few more minutes. Sapphire stole a
glance at X who face was still as expressionless as a rock. “Really that’s all you have to say!
Ok!” Sapphire spat the word
out. “I just told you I hate being with
you and you say ok!” “Where you expecting something else?”
X asked flatly, snatching Sapphires wrist in her hand. When Sapphire looked up she saw the fire
blazing behind her eyes. “X…I…” She started but X slammed on the breaks and
got out. “X! Where are you going?” Sapphire said worry filling her voice. She opened the back seat door.
“You drive, I’m having a nap.”
She said harshly before laying down in the back seat. “Fine!” Sapphire said
frustratingly undoing her seat belt.
“But I’m still not apologizing.” “I wouldn’t expect you to…” X whispered to herself and closed her eyes. © 2013 AWickedMoonAuthor's Note
