Chapter Seven- Beckoned

 

The sun shone high in the sky.  A woman wearing a white linen dress walked threw a lush garden, on her head was placed a throne crown, in her hand she held an Ankh.  As children ran around her playing she moved gracefully across a sandstone partition and finally settled down on a smooth wooden bench.  “Children I must ask you to remain quite or to play elsewhere.” She spoke softly.

“Yes Aset,” the eldest child spoke as most of them scurried away.  A few remained and laid down on the warm walk way to rest.

 

 

Following Jack out the back door she pushed up the sleeves of her black sweater shirt. Cocking her head to one side and folding her arms, she looked at Jack and waited.  They stood eyes looked for a few minutes until his face started to turn red.

“Well we gonna do this or what!” he yelled and through a punch at her that she easily dodged.  He tried again only to be tripped by her.  “X!”  Sapphire yelled charging out of the building.  “Stay back this shouldn’t take too long babe.”  X said smiling.  This of course infuriated Jack even more, and in a blind rage he tried to pounce on X.  But she dexterously avoided it in a back flip.  At this point Gawain ran out with Sahen behind him and he stopped in front of sapphire.  “Is everyone alright?” he asked looking her over.

“Define everyone and define alright.” Sapphire said looking weary.  Three more Blacknights walked into the ally looking around curiously until they saw Jack, then they ran over to him.

“Ah everyone’s here now for the party?  X asked her voice lowering, her eyes turning to flames.  Walking up to Jack who was just getting back up, she grabbed his chin and directed to him. 

 

“Let’s put on a show for them…Babe.”  Kicking him in the face she turned to the others. 

 

“Well which ones my new toy?”  She yelled backing up with her arms outstretched. 

 

“You little, don’t you know who we are!” one of the Blacknights yelled.

 

“Ya, ya you’re the big bad guys who run this town…always with the clichés!  You’d think after 90 years there’d at least be one decent villain!  AL Capone now that was decent man worth fighting!  Even Hitler!  At least he wasn’t completely stupid!”

 

“What are you talking about b***h!” the Blacknights said taking out a knife.  “Oh a knife that’s cute” X said as he ran towards her, quickly she turned to the left of him and rotated around till she was behind him.  “Boo!” she yelled catching the arm holding the knife. “What the f**k” He said confused.  “Shhh…” she whispered moving his hand with the knife to his throat.

 

“X Stop!” Sapphire started to move towards her, but Gawain caught her.  “What did she mean 90 years?  She’s not going to kill him is she?!” he asked.  X looked over at Sapphire and her vision started to blur.  “Xantara…”  A voice whispered.  The Blacknight took the chance to slip out of her grip and kicked her in the side.  “Oh that’s why you don’t want me.” Jack had gotten up and was watching X look at Sapphire.  “They’re fairies!  I have a fitting name for your friend Sapphic.  Ha-ha-ha!  Grab her.”  He pointing to X.  The others grabbed her by the arms and dragged her so she was on her knees in front of Jack.  X’s vision started to fade and she heard the voice again.  “Xantara can you hear me?”  She looked up to see Jacks fist heading towards her but her vision faded again.  As Xantaras vision turned white Jack landed a hit right on her jaw.  “Xantara meet me at the Skyworld we must speak…”  A soft voice spoke again.  Shrugging the vision away X pulled her arm out of one of the Blacknights grasp and swung a blind punch landing right in Jack face.  “I need just a bit longer.” She asked wiping the trickle of blood from her mouth away.  “Who are you talking to?”  Jack asked confused.  “You grab her friend!” he commanded the other Blacknight.  “LET GO CREEP!  Saf yelled as one of the guys grabbed her.  Jack went for another hit.  Ducking out of Jacks punch, X back rolled away and ran over to Saf.  Peeling her out of his grasp she once again thru her into Gawain and kicked the man in the chest.  As she did her vision faded again.  “I have questions X, and you have the answers.” The voice said again.  When her vision came back she was on the ground and being punched in the face.  “X!”  Sapphire yelled trying to get out of Gawain’s grasp.  “Her you take her.”  He said pushing Sapphire towards Sahen.  Looking back and forth he spotted a piece of two by four and ran over to it.  “What are you doing?!”  Sahen yelled after him.

 

“I really have no idea!”  Gawain yelled back picking up the wood he ran over to the nearest Blacknight and smacked him right over the head with it.  “Ha-ha! Take that!- man I’ve always wanted to do that”  Gawain said. 

 

“Ugh!” Sahen exclaimed clutching his left eye in pain.  But no one seemed to notice as he kneeled down.  Quickly X pulled a silver dagger with Celtic drawing on it, out of seemingly thin air.  She held it and her hand up in a defensive position. Seeing the dagger the attacked stopped and moved away.  “What?  Where did you?” He said confused. “A growling noise sounded from the end of the Alleyway, everyone looked towards the sound.  Most of them were surprised to see large growling Jackal.  X stood up and exchanged a look with Sapphire.  She was about to attack again when the world went white.  “Let’s see your mut help you from this!”  Jack said pulling out a gun.  “Xantara you wear my patients!”  The voice boomed this time in her head and she fell to her knees.  “Ha!  Now I got you on your knees eh!”  “Isis?”  X questioned before passing out.  “What are you babbling about?  Who cares?” Jack pointed the gun down to her, his finger sliding to press the trigger-“ENOUGH!!!!” Sahen yelled bolting up.  A sudden warm yellow light burst from his chest leaving everyone blinded. 

 

“What is going on?!” one of the Blacknights yelled.  As their vision started to return Jack yelled.  “I don’t know let’s get out of here!  Bunch of freaks!” and they all turned tail and ran.  As they left Sapphire ran over and kneeled next to X.  “X?  Are you ok?  Can you hear me?”

“Isis…” X mumbled as some blood trickled out of her mouth.  “Isis?  Oh you’re with Isis?” Saf mumbled to herself

“Sapphire we should get her to the town doctor.”  Gawain said. 

“No!  Can you help me get her into the car?” Sapphire asked.  “We need to get her back to the house I can help her there.” Said perfectly calm.

Without another question he beckoned Sahen over to help.  Sahen still in a daze stared at him for a few seconds before helping put her on Gawain’s back.

 

Saf drove the car well Gawain sat in the passenger seat and Sahen sat in the back with X’s head in his lap.  When Sahen had gone back inside to look for Jamila she was nowhere to be found and he had left several messages on her phone.  They sat in silence for twenty minutes before Gawain finally looked in the rear view mirror at Sahen and asked.  “So…what was that back there?”

 

“What was what?”  He replied, sub concisely smoothing Xs hair well holding his own throbbing head.

“Um how about the light show you put on for us back there?”

“Light show?  Um…I’m not sure how I got in this car?”  Sahen asked dazed.

 “So how did you two meet?” Sapphire butted in.

As Gawain started to give Sapphire his whole life story Sahen started to drift into sleep.
