The Land

Was listening to the "Spirit Flute." and jotted down a poem.

My thoughts are carried 

As the river leaks through my soul,

I run with the wolf,

I fly with the hawk

I follow the salmon as it rushes up its path,

I swipe the water with my paw,

Beside my brother bear,

I paint with red berries of the land,

A branch as my brush,

My mind as my paper and my voice as my pen,

I dance designs in the land leaping with the doe.

This is not my land,

it is is not our land,

It is just the land,

A land we must share.

This is beautiful...I lived among Native Americans for about three years in Southeast Alaska, and this piece brought me back in the most pleasant way. The respect they have for the land, and the creatures of the land, is enormous, and you've captured that reverence with a strong and clear voice. Exceptional piece. I guess it’s about living in harmony with everything instead of taking it for our own, respecting the earth and all of its creature’s as it’s not our place to claim something that isn’t ours to claim.
