Chapter Five-
Consign to Oblivion
His eyes fluttered open, warily he let out a huge yawn. He stretched out his arms. Which immediately flew back to cup his eye. A gasp managed to escape his lips and
suddenly someone was beside him.
“Are you alright Sahen? Sahen can
you hear me?” He looked up clutching his
left eye. “Jamila?” He asked confused. As the pain started to etch away he sat up and
leaned against the wall. As the blankets
slipped off he realized he wasn’t wearing a shirt or rather he was only wearing
boxers. Quickly he snatched the blanket
up and looked over at Jamila, who seemed to have lost her clothing as well. He slowly looked up at her beautiful eyes and
the pain in his eye ebbed away. As he
dropped his hand from his face something shiny caught the corner of his eye. The necklace sat at the center of her collar
bone. “Hi?” He finally managed to spit out.
“Are you ok?” she said concern in her voice.
“Ya I’m good! Well uh I suppose I
should get dressed…”
“Right” she said smiling she stood up in the crevice beside his bed and
searched for her cloths. As the blankets
slide off revealing she was only wearing her bra and underwear, he let out a
gasp.
“You’re…” He started trying to
remember the fortnight’s events.
“What’s wrong?” She asked moving
back over to him and planting a kiss on his lips startling him he pulled away.
“What happened last night?” He
demanded.
“Well-
“Hey Sahen you lazy a*s when are you getting….” The shirtless boy’s
words faded as he took in the scene, he didn’t stop moving but simply turned
around and walked back out Sahens bedroom door.
“Anyways the new farm hand is here…” He said his words fading as he walked down the
hall.
“Right, be right up!” He called
out.
“Who was that” Jamila said, staring dreamily where the boy had just
been.
“Oh that’s Alan, my
brother.” He grumbled at the fact his
brother wasn’t wearing a shirt mind you when he was wearing
one it was a t-shirt with some intricate design involving Skulls and cross
bones. He was always getting in to
trouble thinking he was the coolest. Maybe the stupidest. He thought.
“Well I have to do some work did you want
something to eat before I head out? You’re welcome to stay here.”
“Hm… is Alan going to be with you?”
“What? Oh I think he is.” He said looking for his shirt.
“Well what we are standing around
here for then.”
“Well before we go anywhere I need to
put some cloths on and I might suggest the same for you. But first!”
He spoke playfully before gentle tackling her back to the bed and
kissing her. He wasn’t sure what
happened last night but he sure wasn’t going to miss the opportunity.
“Good morning!” Randie said as they
walked into the kitchen. “Also Sahen
dear if you don’t like the coffee I’ll make a new one. Rather then you, pouring it all over the
kitchen and your shirt again. Which by
the way took me most of the morning to clean.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s ok, now I think the new farm
hands are here so go out and meet them.
“Them?”
“Yes there over in the barn now go! You have work to catch up on.” She turned to Jamila and asked. “Jamila would you like something to eat?”
“No thank you.” Said Jamila though her eyes
wandered to the pancakes on the counter.
Instead she put on her shoes and followed Sahen over to the barn.
As they walked across the driveway a
loud roaring noise sounded and Jamila stepped closer to Sahen grasping on to
his arm for comfort. He watched down the
lane trying to figure out what the noise was when a black and red car came
screaming down the road way. The driver
slammed on its breaks, but the car continued rolling causing the dust from the dirt
road to create a veil around then.
When the dust started to dissipate he
looked up to see that the car had managed to stop less than a foot away. They stood there silently waiting for the
driver to get out. After what seemed
like an eternity the car door slowly opened and a girl about as tall as Sahen
stepped out, she had long black hair with little pieces of dark dark red
stroked through it and it hung in strait lines. Her bangs cut just above her eyes. She looked about 21, but there was something
off about her. She walked right up to
Sahen looking him in the eyes. He stood
frozen in the spot, he looked at her eyes one a crystal blue with what seemed
to be little white stars, but when he looked to her other eye he got caught in
the red fire that danced in a brown eye.
She leaned in and gave him a quick peck, when she pulled back one side
of her mouth pulled up in a half smile making the scar on her lip stand out
more.
“So you must be Falcon, I’m glad to
finally meet you again.” X said as she
crossed her right arm across her stomach and tipped her head toward Sahen in a
bow.
“His names Sahen and who you are
anyways?” Jamila said shrilly.
“Xantara I’m the new farm hand, I just moved
her from Egypt. What do you call
yourself?” X snarled looking down at
Jamila.
“My name
is Jamila
Saxon and that.” She said pointing to Sahen.
“Is my boyfriend, so stay away b***h.”
“Oh my apologies, oh great one and
interesting choice in name.” X said
sarcastically, starting to look bored.
She turned towards the barn and started walking away.
“Oh and I called him falcon as that’s
what his name means.” X called behind
her shoulder.
When they made it over to the barn
Sahens dad jogged up in his overalls and his brown shirt; that at one point had
been white before the soil of the farm made it their new home.
“You ready?” His dad said slightly out of breath
“Yup let’s get to work”
“I meant are you ready to meet the
new farm hands!” His dad said excitedly.
“Well we’ve already met one, and my
god is she piece of Arse! Oh I meant
art.” Jamila said with a very snobby pout lip.
Sahens dad just stared taken aback at Jamila until Sahen swiftly
interjected. “We met X, I don’t know
what it is about her but she looks…”
Never mind that; come meet the other farm
hand!” He said before jogging off
towards the corn fields.
“Yup that’s my dad… always running of
before answering questions.” He said
following his dad. I wonder who the other farm hand is he thought to himself. Jamila just continued silently behind him. When they were nearing the corn stocks he
could hear someone laughing maniacally.
“We better hurry.” Sahen said before jogging off in the direction of the
laughter. When they got closer he
realized that it was X and she was leaning on his best friend Gawain’s
shoulder. As soon as Gawain saw Sahen he
walked up and gave him a “Man hug”. “I
missed you man!” Gawain said.
“Wait but I thought you were helping
your dad run the 7-11.” Sahen looked at him confused.
“Ya but I hate the people that come
in they smell funny and there always drunk!”
“Are you saying I smell bad?” X
intruded on their conversation still laughing.
“Well no… anyways shouldn’t we be
getting to work?” Gawain said avoiding
the conversation.
Later…
Dude do something she’s putting us to
shame! Gawain said looking down at his
bucket of corn then at X’s PILE of corn.
Upstaged by a woman! Gawain joked.
“Why are we doing this by hand again?”
Jamila complained.
“You mean why are WE doing it by
hand” X said slyly and pointing the corn in her hand at Jamila’s measly two cobs
of corn. Gawain seemed to find this
hilarious and burst out laughing at the look on Jamilas face. “Well not all of us are getting paid.” She said and stomped away. “Thanks a lot Gawain.” Sahen said as he got up and grabbed his
bucket of corn.
“Well now that that’s over with you
guys want to join me and Sapphire tonight.” X asked though it was more of a
demand then a question.
“Wait, Sapphire? Doesn’t she work at flower shop?” Sahen
asked.
“My god how small is this town!” She started picking up her corn and dropped
it off in the bin. “Anyways I’ll pick
you guys up at 7.” She shouted back and
with that started walking back to her car.
“Isn’t she going to shower? That’s so gross! Can I borrow your shower?” Jamila turned to Sahen and batted her eyelashes.
“Ya no pro-ARGH!” Sahens words were interrupt as pain erupted
in his left eye again, this time it caused him to fall down to one knee.
“Sahen!” they both yelled and ran
over to him. “Are you ok man?” Gawain
asked.
“Ya I’m fine.” Sahen said looking up
to see X looking back with a puzzled expression on her face. He followed her
gaze as she jerked her head to the corn rows.
Again he saw what looked to be a jackal which was impossible because
they didn’t have jackals around here in fact they didn’t even have them on the
continent. He looked back to X to see a
wide grin had appeared on her face and to his surprise he smiled back.
“Sahen! Are you even listening?!” Jamila accused. “We really should be getting back to the
house your probable hungry, you have eaten all day.” Causing him to look away.
I’m ok I’m ok! Let’s get inside so you can shower” as Sahen
spoke his gaze flitted back to where X was standing, except she had just
vanished.
Twenty-two minutes later X was
heading out on the highway. Driving at
least 50 over the speed limit with the speakers blaring out heavy metal songs. She grabbed her phone and pressed one,
waiting for him to pick up she thought to herself in silence. It must
be him to have that reaction to one of Anubis’s servants, but then does this mean
he knows? And with the jackal comes
death does this mean we will fail? Or
does this mean this kid has a soul...
We’ve finally found him! A devilish smile cast over her face, her
eyes turning red she lifted the seat exposing a secret compartment filled with
a collection of guns and daggers. They
had been blessed by the gods before she left Egypt. She whispered demonically at the wind. “Set. Your next, but this rebirth requires your
death.”

“Oh drop the act Jen We found him”
“Must you continue with these silly
nick names I mean really my names Jenkins is that so hard to remember?! X moved the phone away from her face as the
British accent continued to rage thru.
“Jenkins! Did you hear me we found him?”
“-and you know maybe you should

“We found Horus…”
