Destination Unknown

Destination Unknown

A Poem by Luna

Lying here in the guest room,
watching the sun paint lines
on peeling, chipped white walls,
remembering now and again
how good a cup of coffee is
when the morning doesn't
quite feel like morning but
more like a wasted afternoon
in the making.

The day finds ways to flood
our brains and fill our skin
with it's aging minutes, time
ticks, move on, go right, go
left, little mouse, find your way
to Friday and paychecks.

But wouldn't it be just as neat
to scale a mountain and forget
city fumes and an awaiting tomb,
but remember youth, nature and
life?

I've got bones to travel with, skin
to keep me together, lest my soul
go flying off on some tangent I
forgot to mention, and should I
find I'm anchored in place then
I'll pull my bones, and skin and
send them packing again.

Life is a one way road;
no matter which way you're going,
there's no way back.

So close your eyes, take those steps
and pray that the bearded old man
on the side of the road (fate) has
pointed you in the right direction.

I adore your writing. Your voice is unique, fresh, and so intelligent. Beautiful imagery. And I loved the first stanza! Excellent work.

What can be said about me? You know, I find this whole "about me" section completely vain and useless. On the other hand... I suppose I could selectively ignore the "about me" label and say .. more..
