YOUR HEART IS A CASTLE

YOUR HEART IS A CASTLE

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

Ones heart is guarded by a castle

"

I have feasted at your table

Tasted your sweet wine

Made love to you at midnight

Our bodies well entwined

.
But your heart is like a castle

Surrounded by a wall

It’s guarded by your archers

They are at your beckon call

.
Each archer’s quivered arrows

Have tips of poison words

You never see them shoot them

But every word is heard

.
But if you don your armor

Sometimes they’ll miss their mark

If you forget to put it on

The poison always hits the heart

.
You say that you need no one

As you sit upon your throne

Saying “ I can rule my kingdom

Much better all alone”

.
I have been in you castle

One of the few that you let in

What you really say right now

It's not the truth… and it has never been

.

For your not the only one

Who has lost at love before

Get your a*s off your throne

And open up your door

.
When that door does open

Let that new love in your life

For I know who he is

And he wants you for his wife
