BALLERINA DANCING IN THE SKYA Poem by DONALD EISSLERWRITTEN FOR SOMEONE WHO LOST HER THREE YR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER IN MAY HOPE I HAVE DONE HER JUSTICEShe sits in her rocking chair
Staring straight ahead. Clutching a picture of little girl As her tears now start to shed. Tiny ballerina slippers She see's hanging on the wall. With pretty purple ribbons, They two, neither worn at all. Little eyes like Bambi Smile right back at her. Brown hair flowing in the breeze Now seems just a blur. Her mind travels back in time When her laughter filled the air. Now the damn old memory Sometimes is way to much to bear. She had called her "Nana" Grandma she could not say. When she said that "Nana" word Well, she always got her way. Was a day not so long ago She was sitting on her knee, Asking with those Bambie eyes "Nana , will you dance with me ?" For I want be a ballerina. Have purple ribbons in my hair. Wear those tiny little slippers And go twirling through the air. She never got that chance To put those ribbons in her hair Or wear the tiny slippers She never twirled through the air. She dances now for Jesus Twirls across a stage of gold. She is a twinkling little star Every night an encore to behold. Her "Nana" sees her every night Though tears she still does cry A smile does comes across her face Seeing her ballerina, dancing in the sky. © 2011 DONALD EISSLERReviews
