IT'S YOU WHO LITES MY CANDLE

IT'S YOU WHO LITES MY CANDLE

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

Written for the one who says "you never write anything for me " Ha so here it is A trip down Tarnish Lane a little bit of most every thing Knight has written for that special person please enjoy

"

IT'S YOU WHO LITES MY CANDLE

I have tried so many ways

To show I write for you

If you could read my palm

You'd know that it was true

The words I use to touch you

Flowers of beauty with their flow.

Blossoming in many colors

Elegant in their visual show.

Showed you my Tarnished side

Expressed in a rhythmic tone

Even cried a tear or two

That weakness I had shown.

I have loved you as Pirate

A Knight and Cowboy too.

Loved you with your brown eyes.

When they were green and also blue.

You have rode upon my unicorn

We made love upon a cloud.

We sat in “Penelope's Garden”

Staying together we had vowed.

Took you on my “Magic Ship”

I “Welcomed You Aboard”

You forgot your baggage,

On the pier we left it stored.

Took you to a “Mountain Top”

Where we almost touched sky.

Told you I was finding Jesus

“Now That Really Made You Cry”

Had a fight with “The Tempter.”

Was saved by “His Warrior Bride”

Watched as our “Words of love.”

Disappear with the coming tide.

I tried to “Slay Your Dragon”

Upon my steed of white.

Woke with you one morning

Feeling something wasn't right.

Felt your breast of “alabaster”

My head upon your chest.

Heard you moans of passion

As our love began to crest.

Gave you one “Yellow Rose”

Watched it “Wilt Before My Eyes .”

Not an easy thing to do

Watching something as it dies.

Wrote about your "Cowboy Hat",

Your dress of periwinkle blue.

Writing of your beauty

Such an easy thing to do.

Then I told you how I cried

The day the limo drove away.

Didn't really want to leave you

You never asked if I would stay.

You were the “Coal in My Fire”

That made my heart aglow .

You were the ice in my soul

When you told me I had to go.

You sat right along side me

As Happy “Chased Rabbits in the Sky.”

Held my hand as tears were shed

When I ask Him why my son had to die.

Shared with you my story

Called “Once Upon a Time”

My life I opened up for you

And I even made it rhyme.

Then there was time

We wrote about a “Crescent Moon”

How can you forget these words

“I Can  Make You Swoon.”

There was a “Glass Half Empty

You filled it to the brim

Showed me how to love again

Before my life was mighty grim.

Then there were two crystals

Thought from some chandeliers.

But when the sun had struck them

They melted into tears

You once were a “Singer

In a Country Western Band”

And a “Mystic Cowgirl”

With breast so very tan.

You have been many things

You inspire what I do

You bring sunshine to my life

You make me happy when I'm blue

So when I write my words

You are always by my side

For its you who lights my candle

And who will always be my guide.
