THE GLASS HALF EMPTY

THE GLASS HALF EMPTY

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

MISSING SOMETHING TO MAKE IT FULL

"

Today I feel so all alone

No one seems to care.
Can't get her off my mind
As out the window now I stare

Again I gave my heart away
Something I said I'd never would.
But if you ever saw her,
Why, would be understood.

I am still so longing
To feel her loving touch.
Guess I was just a fool
For loving her so much.

Now I listen to the music
Band playing a heart felt song
My drink is now half empty.
Maybe time for me to move along.

But I call the waitress over
For one more drink before I go
“Getting close to closing time”
She said. “I thought I'd let you know.”

As she puts my drink on the table
I feel a warmth come over me.
I turn and there's my sweetie
She standing along side of me.

She sits down and takes my hand,
A tear falls from her eye
She said "I'm sorry baby.
I just can not say goodbye.”

When I saw your drink half empty
Was like a picture of my lonely heart
Without you there's just emptiness
It's tearing my heart apart.

Now we listen to the music
And dance to our special song.
We hold each other closely
Knowing this is where we both belong.

Half full is always better than half empty. I like this one very much as always.
