THE BEST OF FRIENDS

THE BEST OF FRIENDS

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

How the mind and the heart need to be the best of friends.

"

I want the world to revolve around you.

I want you to be upset if you feel that I am ignoring you.

I want that pain to tug upon heart when you can't get in touch with me .

I want that tear drop to run gently down your cheek when you think of me ever so far away.

I want that heart of yours to long for me when you hear the pitter patter of rain drops on your window pane

For my love, if you stop wanting any of the above, then what we have now will, I am afraid, turn into what we had.

That is the last thing that I would want.

So take these words I wrote

Hold them,devour them.

Store them deep within the library of your mind.

Retrieve them when your feeling blue.

Let no emotional obstacle or cloud block the portal where they are stored.

Let your mind draw wisdom from your heart.

You heart, draw wisdom from your mind.

Only then will the heart and the mind

Be the best of friends.

Breaking the rhyme scheme, you show your are limited to some narrow scope. This is an example of great a poet is by not holding themselves back. Awesome, Don.

When the mind and the heart are friends it is like a walk on the beach, where each bend and the curve of the shoreline reveals special new treasures. I love this even if it doesn't rhyme. Aloha, Ginger
