YOU SAY YOU ARE A KATA Poem by DONALD EISSLERYou say you are a kat
Nine lives do you lead
Always starting over
No warning do you heed.
Gave your love so many times
Always thinking it would last
Sometimes you gave too much
Now they all are in the past
You have your beauty
Still purring like a cat.
No matter what life deals
You’re always bouncing back.
Your charm is undeniable
Your smile is a delight
Men just seem to flock to you
Wanting to take you home at night.
I know I have not much
To make you turn your head,
Just a bit of laughter
And some pretty words I said.
If you only give me a try
I hope to make you see
There’s a lot more than words inside
Please take a chance with me.
I can hold you close
On a stormy winters night,
Keep you warm and cozy,
Make you feel just right.
Maybe make you smile
When you’re feeling blue,
Even give a hug
Or maybe even two.
I would run my fingers
Through your pretty hair,
Speaking words of romance
For that I have a flair.
You would no longer
Have to be like that kat.
Once we shared a kiss
No love would you hold back
So come and take my hand
We shall walk as a pair
Seal our love with a kiss
In the brisk Autumn air.
