TWO CRYSTAL TEARDROPS

TWO CRYSTAL TEARDROPS

Short little prose about two lovers who become one .. in a very different way

There once was, a long time ago, a Knight in Shining armor who was in love with a beautiful princess... His love for her consumed his day as well as his nights. She, with hair like golden flax, too was in love with this Knight so bold. Her heart went pitter patter whenever he came to court. She, being the daughter of the King, could only pine for the love of this handsome Knight so bold. For being a Kings Daughter one must marry for lineage not for love.

Her fate was sealed. She had to marry the Duke of Whisher. Yes she would remain a princess, maybe even become the Queen. A Queen!!! So many “whish” to be the Queen!!! . Though the crown is adorned with diamonds and precious stones, it means nothing when your heart is pining for the one you really love. And with out a King that one loves being a Queen can be an apocalyptic chore.

The king finds out about the knight and his daughter and wants to take the knights life, she begs for him, she saves his life but he is banished from the kingdom to be no longer a knight in shining armor but one who is tarnished forever.

She waits by her window for a final glance of her shining knight … then she sees his steed with mist flowing from its nostrils galloping across the court yard with her knight so bold gazing directly up to her window. He quickly dismounts and climbs up the ivy covered Cornice directly to her window.
“I have one kiss to give you then I must flee” he says … the kiss, full of passion and lust brings tears to them both.

Hidden in the closet was a talisman known as the Wizard of Wiz Dumb. He was sent by the king to make sure the maiden was still a virgin, as only a princess can be, if being married to the duke of Whisher. He seeing the pain of these lovers and the tears they shed, decided to work his magic. He turned two tears, one from the knight and one from the maiden into tears of crystal.

Astounded by the talisman both were in a state of fright for if he told the king the knight was in thy lady’s bedroom he would surely lose his head..
“Not to fear” said the talisman “ I shall not say one word to the king .But you must take these tears I have made for you, put them in a case and go bury them where only you two will know where.. If and when the time is right, you or someone will dig down and find the case and open it, these tears will melt and flow from being two into one and you shall be together forever more.

****************************************************************************************************

He was planting a tree in his back yard. A pear tree, his favorite! The hole needed to be deep enough and the soil soft enough around the roots to give them a strong chance of quickly growing. The shovel edged around the bottom of the hole bringing up dirt to be replaced by compost. He scooped the soil into a container, the bucket to be emptied later. But as he tossed in the final scoop his eye caught a glimpse of something long trapped in the soil. He reached into the bucket and picked up a tiny case and realized it was hinged for opening. His heart began to beat with the thrill of discovery. He wiped the case and brushed away the soil . There was an inscription on the bottom. Tear drops from a Knight and a Maiden. "Time capsule he thinks ...I wonder how long it has been here?"

He finally gets the little case open. His heart beating now like a wild stallion in full stride. He peers inside. There he sees a letter. Slowly he removes the letter . There underneath this parchment of words lies two, what he thinks looks like crystal tear drops. He begins to read the words that are eloquently written.
“ There may never be a time when this capsule will be unlocked by either of us. The tide of life may have taken us out for the last time before we have the chance to do so. If that does happen someone else, we hope, will open this and gaze with wonder at these two crystal tear drops resting on the bottom of this case.”

As the farmer ponders the meaning of it all, the sun, as if by a silent command, shines its life giving rays upon them... The two crystals tears that once were separate entities, now seemed to melt like ice in his hands. They have become not two but one. A rainbow suddenly appears and in that rainbow he sees two people walking upon a beautifully colored road to heaven hand in hand. The reflection he swears looks like a Knight in Shining Armor holding hands with a beautiful lady wearing a gem filled tiara. As the rainbow slowly melts away...His mind still wonders why these tears of crystal were placed inside this capsule …
But then a smile comes across his face … He looks again and sees what once were two tears of crystals, now like two snow flakes having melted in the warmth of the sun, ...they are now bonded together for eternity.

He slowly closes the lid. A little tear drop falls from his eye as he thinks of the sad love story that he has uncovered. But also it is a tear of joy knowing that they are finally together in Gods world forever. Never another tear will ever be shed by them.

He puts the case back, covers it with dirt so no other eyes can see what he has uncovered. As he walks away a shower in the distance produces another brilliant rainbow. Again he sees the same two people walking hand in hand… They turn back for an instant … smile at him … and like magic a voice transcends from on high saying just these four words…

 "Thank you my friend!"
