ONCE I LOOKED AT RAINBOWSA Poem by DONALD EISSLEROne too many rainbows looking for that pot gold....Once I looked at rainbows Saw colors in different hues. Now I see in black and white For my eyes are misting blue. Always have been a dreamer, Looking for a pot of gold. Thought it would bring be happiness, But a different ending did unfold. Took her on my unicorn, Heading to the land of bliss. Where fairies spread pixie dust, So the way we would not miss. We road upon rainbow, Her,my unicorn and me. Even stopped upon a cloud, To see what we could see. Saw another rainbow Across the meadow far. We even made a wish, Upon a morning star. We laughed as we spoke About this fairy tale. Both just being dreamers With egos rather frail. We did ride upon that rainbow. She was right there by my side And yes I had unicorn. To this I shall confide. That was some time ago, Or maybe only yesterday. For my constant dreaming Has scared my love away. No longer are there rainbows. Nor Unicorns named Dream . Fairy tales or pixie dust Not as real as they did seem. So if you go chasing rainbows, Looking for that pot gold. First look whats along side of you For your loss could be untold.
