THE TEMPTER

THE TEMPTER

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

THE DEVILS STORM

"
There's clouds upon the mountain.
The sky is dark and gray.
A cold wind from the north,
Warns a tempest is on its way.

The lighting flashes brightly.
Thunder like a lions roar.
Trees bending at their trunks.
This must be Satan's war.

Heavens tears begin to flow.
Cries heard throughout the land.
Then a rumbling from deep inside.
As the tempter shows his hand.

Animals flee like refugees.
To escape the pending doom.
Mothers crying frantically,
For their unborn in their womb.

No longer does the thunder roar,
Nor the lightning lite the night.
Trees that once stood tall and strong.
There's not one now in sight.

The tempster takes just like a thief.
Though you may never see his face.
But all that he will ever leave,
Is just a sad and dying place.

A strong poem. I like the visions you create with your words. You create a mystery with a open ending. You could extend the poem into a powerful tale. Thank you for a outstanding poem.
