A Wilted Yellow Rose

A Wilted Yellow Rose

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

A rose wilts away

"

“A Wilted Yellow Rose “

A pretty yellow rose,

That I had bought for you.

Now withers in the sunlight,

And has a different hue.

The beauty of its petals,

Once so yellow bright.

Now fall to the ground,

With no one there in sight.

The beauty that is was,

Brought kisses and a sigh.

But now that it is wilting

It all seems like such a lie.

It's beauty was so wondrous.

Thought it would never die.

But you look at it different now

Yes, I know the reason why.

I guess I did not treat it,

With all the love I had to give.

Gave it some fleeting words,

And expected it to live.

Guess I should had nurtured it.

Fertilized it with my love.

But my ego had blinded me,

Now I'm like a mourning dove.

So if you give a flower ,

Please handle it with care.

The emotion that carries

Sometimes are way to much bare.

But if you really love her,

Mean every word you say.

Then give her something beautiful

For a flower is the perfect way.
