BACK UP ON THE MOUNTAIN

BACK UP ON THE MOUNTAIN

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

Day two back up on the mountain.

"

Went back up on the mountain
Was there just yesterday.
Maybe to see if God was there,
Or maybe just to pray.

Then a voice came calling.
It came from far above.
Said come sit here beside me,
Want to show you who to love.

Sat down on a boulder,
Was no one there in sight.
Felt a presence near me,
Then I saw a light.

Remember when you saw the eagle?
The voice said soft but strong.
I am the One who made him fly,
Nary a thing went wrong.

Remember the white tail deer?
That you had scared away.
I was the One that gave him speed
So he could live another day.

Remember that lil' chipmunk?
With acorns in his cheeks.
I was the one that gave him
Those little scampering feet.

I am the One who gave everything
A reason to live and die.
Even gave this mountain top
A chance to touch the sky.

I have seen you sit here
As you ponder upon your life.
You even start to question me
"Is there such a thing as Christ?"

I know where you have been
And know your problems well.
But if you put your hand in mine
Those problems you’ll not dwell.

Trust in me my Son
Invite me in your heart.
I will guide your path
New life will have it's start.

I stood up, the light was gone,
The voice no longer there.
A feeling then came over me
That someone really cared

Don’t have to climb that mountain
Like I did that day
To find out if Jesus loves you
Get on your knees and pray.
