HE WAS BY MY SIDE

HE WAS BY MY SIDE

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

MY TRIP UP ON A MOUNTAIN 1ST OF THREE TRIPS UP THE MOUNTAIN MORE SPIRITUAL THAN RELIGOUS

"

HE WAS BY MY SIDE

Climbed up on the mountain.
Fingers almost touched the sky.
Even had to duck my head
As a cloud came tumbling by.

Felt I was invisible,
Amongst the blue and gray.
God must have rested here

On that seventh day.

I could see for miles.
As the air was clear and bright.
Sun shining through the trees,

Though did cast an eerie light

The leaves seem to sing
A song upon the breeze.
Some floating to the ground,
Saying "can catch me if you please".

Even saw an eagle,
Soaring oh so very high.
Looked at me suspiciously,
Giving me that eagle eye.

Then a little chipmunk
Came by to say hello.
Cheeks stuffed with acorns.
I think he’s wanting me to go.

Cannot remember when,
I spent a day like this.
You not being with me
Is the only thing amiss.

I feel so much better now,
For I’ve almost touched the sky.
Still don’t understand it,
Nor the reason why.

But I will take this day,
Always hold it deep inside.
As I have  saw all its beauty
For HE was by my side.

A TARNISHED KNIGHT

Your type of writing is not writing...writing can be good, bad, selfish, etc. Yours is painting words onto the page. Painting is filled with many colors and catches every little detail. Just like you did.

I'm breathing in the fresh clean air,
feeling the breeze rush through my hair.
You captured much with your rhyme
so now I can climb that mountain any time.

Thank you

Loved all of this...nothing I like more than to get up on the tops, and days when I can't...poems like yours give me beautiful imagination vacations. Thankyou.
