FROM A ONE PERSON WORLD

She loved to play the see-saw, like every child in the park
But most came in pairs, to play with she had no one to ask
She searched but only one she saw, and thats what made her grow
SHe did it her self, the swing she played, with her foot-she began-slow

Expected the most from, is what you'll here
the good natured, well mannared, they need you to be
Enduarance-something-from what you cant dissappear
Have you asked your self, why me?

Dont get me wrong but walk away! if you think you'll never change your mind
Its wrong if you think its fair to compare- the life, of every only child
They do break rules, they do go blind, and sometimes they want to be untwined
They want to be heard and not be piled and sometimes may even want to be wild

They expect more, because you expect more
They expect much more, because you except much more
They specifically live by "treat how you are treated"
So, dont get confused when you've been defeated

She yearned to have a sister or a brother, atleast a sibling from another mother
Just a fantacy, she thought to her self, she played all roles - all by her self
Nested for long, she was able to see, being the only child means, "not being free"
The nest grew strong, her fight grew bigger, from here, an only childs battle triggers

In those families when siblings cover up for each other
To 'them', they wonder if that day would ever come
In a one person world, only one person does it all together
And thats why, some times, an only child- you may not want to-become

Dont get me wrong but walk away! if you think you'll never change your mind
It's wrong if you think its fair to compare-the life, of ever only child

I love the message and you get a clear picture of what it must be like to grow up as an only child, especially the imagery of having to push yourself on a swing. Having grown up with a big sister, I can't say I always had company or that we always wanted to play with each other. Still, at least we always had a feeling of being a unit and even when we were off doing our own thing, we didn't really feel "alone" ... not to mention the fact that there was always someone else to blame when it came to being naughty :3

The flow does seem a little hesitant at times and they rhyme a bit disconnected but even then, the message is clear and it may well lend a certain something to the piece. Like the slow and difficult pace that it takes to build up momentum on a swing, all on your own.

Thank you for sharing this experience and giving a glimpse into the life of an only child. As frustrating as it may be, life would have seemed otherwise dull without the occasional sibling rivalry ;D
